"Giving everyone a voice in the future of the Internet"
What is ICANN?
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a global multi-stakeholder organization that was created an 1998 and empowered through actions by the U.S. government and its Department of Commerce. Its primary responsibility is to manage the Internet's core infrastructure, which consists of IP addresses, domain names, and root servers. It coordinates the Internet's DNS, IP addresses and autonomous system numbers, which involves a continued management of these evolving systems and the protocols that underly them. On 1 October 2016, the oversight of ICANN transitioned from the U.S. government to the private sector, which will govern the Internet's unique identifiers through the multistakeholder model.
ICANNWiki

ICANNWiki is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Internet community's collaborative development of wiki articles on ICANN and Internet Governance-related topics. The wiki provides neutral, well-referenced information for ICANN meeting attendees and Internet citizens at large. It is an open platform governed by wiki values, such as Neutral Point of View, transparency, assuming good faith, and building together. The project is independent of ICANN, and is based out of the USA.

The Internet Governance space is known for being highly technical and obscure, making it difficult to develop a general understanding of the issues involved. ICANNWiki works with the community to break these complex concepts down into understandable, fully-referenced, fact-based, and neutral articles. In addition to being hard technically dense, the majority of content available on Internet governance related content is only available in English. This is why ICANNWiki has made it a goal to make our content available in as many languages as possible. At this time, we have content in Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and Swahili. We would like to do the same for Arabic and meet the needs of the Arabic speaking community wanting to get involved with Internet governance.
